Gordon's Hill

🏔️ Gordon’s Hill – The Ultimate Climb!

Welcome to Gordon’s Hill, one of the most famous slopes on the Island of Sodor!

Known for its steep incline and dramatic challenges, this hill is a true test for any engine — especially when pulling long trains or racing the clock!

Engines often give a determined puff and a big honk before tackling the hill — and sometimes need a little friendly push from behind to make it to the top!

📍 Location

Gordon’s Hill is part of the main line route, often used by express engines travelling across the island.
It’s located near Maron and Knapford, making it a key stretch of track with stunning views — and steep consequences!

📚 A Little History (for the grown-ups)

In both The Railway Series and the TV show, Gordon’s Hill is more than just a slope — it’s a symbolic challenge of determination, teamwork, and engine pride.

It’s one of the few named hills on Sodor and earned its title thanks to Gordon the Big Engine, who famously struggled with it — but eventually conquered it in a cloud of steam and determination!

It’s been the setting for many memorable moments, full of grit, giggles, and a few good-natured “whoops!”

🚂 Engines Who Know It Well

Gordon – The hill’s namesake, often powering up with the express train

Thomas – Sometimes gets a push… or offers one to his friends

🌟 Famous Stories from Gordon’s Hill 🌟

From the world of Thomas & Friends

Gordon’s Hill is a big, steep hill on the Island of Sodor. The engines often puff up and down it. Sometimes, the hill makes things tricky. Let’s hear some stories about what happened there!

Thomas and the Troublesome Trucks

When Thomas was new, he wanted to prove he was really useful. But the Troublesome Trucks were being cheeky!
They pushed Thomas down Gordon’s Hill too fast — he couldn’t stop!
Moral: It’s important to listen to advice and take your time.

James Slips on the Leaves

In autumn, lots of leaves fall on the tracks. One day, James was going up Gordon’s Hill, but the leaves made the rails very slippery!
His wheels spun and he couldn’t go forward. He had to be very careful.
Moral: Sometimes the weather makes things harder, but staying calm helps.

Emily and the Big Snowball

It was winter, and everything was covered in snow. Emily was going down Gordon’s Hill when — SPLAT! — a big snowball rolled onto the track and knocked her off!
Luckily, no one was hurt, and the other engines helped her back on the rails.
Moral: Always be careful in snowy weather — you never know what might happen!

Spencer Won’t Ask for Help

Spencer thought he was the fastest and best engine. But when he ran out of coal and water on Gordon’s Hill, he was stuck!
He didn’t want to ask for help, but in the end, he had to.
Moral: It’s okay to ask for help when you need it.
