Meet Percy the Small Engine | Tiny Track & Play

Percy is Thomas’s best friend and the cheerful little green engine who loves delivering the mail across Sodor!

He may be small, but he’s full of energy, always eager to help, and determined to be a Really Useful Engine.

Colour: Bright green with red stripes and the number 6 on his side

Number: 6 (painted on both sides of his water tank)

Type of Engine: Tank engine (saddle tank – carries water in a tank over his boiler)

Wheels: 4 Driving wheels (0-4-0)

Introduced: The Railway Series Book 5 – Troublesome Engines (1950)

Percy is the youngest of the main engines on Sodor.

He’s cheeky, excitable, and loves helping out — sometimes a little too quickly!

He tries hard to impress the bigger engines and make his friends smile.

Though he sometimes gets into sticky situations, Percy is always polite, determined, and proud to be Really Useful.

Originally lived at Tidmouth Sheds, but later moved to Ffarquhar Sheds on Thomas’s branch line.

Pulls the mail train, even at night while others are resting

Shunts trucks in the yard and helps organise trains

Runs fun errands and special deliveries across Sodor

Percy first appeared to replace another engine but quickly became a fan favourite.

His first big story was Percy Runs Away, where he learns how important railway signals are.

Percy often ends up in messy situations — from coal mines to splashy docks!
